The body never stops. Every day it carries work, obligations, stress, new challenges - and all of it leaves a trace, even when we don’t notice it right away. That’s why the question “how often should you get a massage” doesn’t have one universal answer, but there is a clear direction worth aiming for.

Why the body needs constant attention

Hardly anyone sits “correctly” - and that’s not surprising, because we simply weren’t built for sitting. Our bodies are built for movement, yet most jobs today involve up to eight hours spent at a computer, hunched over, shoulders raised, neck pushed forward, almost without us noticing. That tension doesn’t build up overnight - it accumulates day after day, and that’s exactly why it needs an equally consistent response.

Massage isn’t a reward you treat yourself to once “it really starts to hurt.” It’s a tool you use to regularly give your body back what everyday life takes from it - mobility, relaxation, the feeling of not being trapped in the same position all day.

The ideal frequency

When it comes to the ideal rhythm, the answer is clear: at least once a week. At that frequency, the body doesn’t have time to build up tension between visits, so each session builds on the last instead of starting from scratch. It’s the rhythm that leads fastest to tangible change - less pain, better sleep, easier movement throughout the day.

Of course, we understand that a weekly massage isn’t always financially accessible, and that’s perfectly fine. There’s no universal rule that fits everyone - it all depends on your specific situation, how much strain your body is currently under, and what your life allows right now.

When weekly isn’t possible

If once a week isn’t realistic, twice a month is already a solid, sustainable rhythm that brings visible results - just a little more slowly. What matters more than the frequency of a single treatment is that you actually stick to the rhythm you choose - consistency is what makes the difference, not any one visit.

To make more regular visits more accessible, we introduced a Loyalty program. Every visit is recorded on a card in a cycle of 10 massages:

Relax A Massage studio loyalty card - rewards on the 3rd, 5th, and 10th massage

  • on your 3rd massage, you get +5 minutes added to the session,
  • on your 5th massage, a 500 RSD discount,
  • and your 10th massage is completely free.

Once a cycle of 10 is complete, it starts again from the beginning. The idea is simple - the more regularly you come in, the more it pays off, whether your rhythm is weekly or less frequent.

The first step: a diagnostic treatment

If you’re just starting out, or it’s been a while since your last massage, it’s best for your first visit to be a kind of diagnostic treatment. Through conversation and a physical assessment of your body, Andrija determines where tension is most pronounced, how your body moves and holds itself, and - based on that - the direction future massages should take.

Instead of randomly picking a treatment, you get a clear plan with a purpose: a life without pain. Every following visit builds on that plan, rather than starting from zero.

Building your own rhythm

There’s no “wrong” frequency - there’s only the one that fits your body, your job, and your situation. Weekly is the ideal, twice a month is a great and realistic compromise, and what matters most is choosing a rhythm you can actually maintain.

If you’re not sure where to start, your first visit is the best way to find out - Andrija will assess your condition together with you and suggest a realistic plan, tailored to you.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often should you get a massage?
The body responds best to regularity - ideally once a week, since that's the pace at which muscle tension doesn't have time to build up between sessions. That's not always financially possible, and that's completely fine - twice a month is already a solid rhythm that brings visible results, and everything depends on your specific situation and what your body is currently carrying.
Is a massage once a month enough?
Once a month is better than nothing and can help release tension from time to time, but for lasting change - less pain, better mobility, calmer sleep - a higher frequency is needed, at least twice a month. It all depends on how much strain your body is under from daily work and stress.
What is a diagnostic treatment and why is the first visit different?
Your first visit with Andrija is a conversation combined with a physical assessment of your body - where tension is most pronounced, how you sit, how you move, what's bothering you. Based on that, the direction of future treatments is determined, instead of randomly picking a massage type. It's the foundation on which a plan toward a pain-free life is built.
How does the loyalty program affect how often I can come in?
Every visit is recorded on a Loyalty card in a cycle of 10 massages - on your 3rd visit you get +5 minutes added to the session, on your 5th a 500 RSD discount, and your 10th massage is completely free. The cycle then repeats. The goal is to make more regular visits more worthwhile, whether your rhythm is weekly or less frequent.
Does sitting at a computer mean I need more frequent massages?
Yes - our bodies weren't built for eight hours of sitting, yet that's what most jobs today require. A hunched posture, shoulders pulled up toward the ears, and hours of staying still all create chronic tension that isn't felt immediately but builds up over time. For desk-based work, more regular massage is less of a luxury and more of a preventive measure.
How quickly does tension come back after a massage?
It depends on how much your body is exposed daily to the same patterns - poor posture, stress, physical strain. For some, the sense of relief lasts a couple of weeks; for others, just a few days. That's why regularity matters more than any single session - each following massage builds on the last, instead of starting from zero.
